VIZIO Sells 280,000 HDTVs Black Friday Week: Up 40% YoY

By Rachel Cericola

Apparently, a lot of people want a high-def holiday. VIZIO just announced that during the week of Black Friday 2009, they sold 280,000 HDTVs. Sounds like a lot of people like big TVs -- at a bargain, of course.

Those numbers are actually a 40 percent increase over VIZIO's sales during this same time last year. Maybe that's because they have some very nice models, in sizes ranging from 19 to 55 inches. Here are a few of our recent favorites:

"VIZIO has achieved another record-breaking year of Black Friday sales of HDTVs, Blu-ray players, high-definition sound bars and high performance HDMI cables," stated Laynie Newsome VIZIO Co-founder and V.P. Sales and Marketing Communications. "We consistently strive to offer consumers more and are pleased to see the great success of our high performance products which allow us to continue to grow and expand VIZIO products to a wider range of consumers seeking the latest technology at a great value."

VIZIO's VF551XVT has a 1080p picture, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio and TruLED with Smart Dimming LCD backlight technology.

The company was crowned with the top sales spot in Q3 2009. Looks like they might have another quarter to be crowing about.

Amazon is currently offering free shipping on the top-of-the-line 55-inch VF551XVT, which includes LED backlighting with local dimming technology, a 1080p picture (1920x1080 pixels), a "2,000,000:1" mega dynamic contrast ratio, and 240 SPS Smooth Motion technology.

The 19-inch VA19LHDTV10T doesn't have free shipping currently, but is a super bargain at $179.99. For that, you'll get 720p resolution (actual native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels), and a rated 170-degree viewing angle inside a super slick, super thin (2.5 inches) package.  It's also got the ECO nickname because it surpasses Energy Star's guidelines.
