It's always interesting to see what people are watching. And with the popularity of online sales and movie downloads, it's easier than ever to track that. Amazon has their top-selling DVD list (updated hourly), and now movie download newcomer Vudu, Inc. is making the list of their top movie downloads public (see list below).
Vudu has made quite a splash with their Vudu movie download box (check out our Vudu review for more details). Released late last year, and recently lowered in price from $399 to $295 for the hardware, the Vudu download service and set-top box offers over 5,000 titles, each available for immediate viewing (immediate, as in no delays in playback). In November of 2007, the service began offering movies in HD, with the complete Bourne Trilogy, and they are continuing to build a selection of HD movies based on user demand.
Interestingly enough, only one HD title made the top 20 this week, the action western, 3:10 to Yuma (starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale). The rest are (perhaps unsurprisingly) standard definition titles that have recently been released on DVD.
