VUDU Movie Streaming Platform Gets Smarter with Wikipedia

Ever come across a movie that looks interesting but you've never heard of it or want to know more?  VUDU is here to help.  VUDU's online streaming platform is being enhanced with live links to Wikipedia from within VUDU's movie browsing interface.  So now, in addition to being able to read select film review extracts from Rotten Tomatoes, you can drill down into even more detail by viewing the Wikipedia entries for movies.

While on Wikipedia, you can navigate through all of the links on the Wikipedia page until your curiosity has been sated.  Also, VUDU performs a little additional magic of its own by dynamically building links from Wikipedia back into the VUDU environment.  For example, if you browse the Twilight Wikipedia page, then click on "Kristen Stewart" to find out more about that actress, VUDU can then give you a link back into VUDU to browse or rent more of Ms. Stewart's films.

Browsing "Twilight" on VUDU you'll now be able to click on a new link for Wikipedia...

...which will bring you a wealth of information about the film, its cast and crew, all without leaving the VUDU front end.

The new feature is just the latest example of what's possible with a platform and interface that is entirely streamed.  It's a true "thin client" model that works the same whether you're watching VUDU on a dedicated VUDU box or one of the VUDU-enabled TVs or Blu-ray Players from LG or Mitsubishi.  New features can be delivered to the platform without upgrading any hardware or waiting for a firmware upgrade to download and install itself on your machine.
