VUDU Meets Blu-ray on LG's BD390 Blu-ray Disc Player

VUDU cannot be stopped!

The streaming entertainment service has made another deal with LG. This time, they will start streaming to LG's BD390 Network Blu-ray Disc player. At CEDIA Expo in Atlanta today, LG announced that their current top of the line player will get VUDU via a firmware upgrade coming later this month.

It's worth noting that this will be the first networked Blu-ray player to receive VUDU's service. That means no new equipment, but the entire experience will be still have the same easy user interface.

The BD390 has broadband capabilities, as well as full HD 1080 video, 1080p upscaling (via HDMI), and 1GB of built-in memory for all of your BD Live needs. Aside from VUDU, users will also have access to everything else under the NetCast Entertainment Access umbrella, which also features content from CinemaNow, YouTube and Netflix.

"Our goal as a company is to offer the best possible HD movie service to the broadest possible audience," said Alain Rossmann, VUDU's CEO. "By adding the top-rated LG BD390 Blu-ray player to the lineup of VUDU-enabled products, we've made it easier than ever for customers to enjoy the VUDU experience."

VUDU boasts the largest instant HD movie library in 1080p, which also features Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. They currently offer 16,000 movie and TV titles -- some to rent and some to own -- and 2,200 of those are in HD.

LG's BD390 is available now for $399. The VUDU feature should be ready by the end of the month, via a free upgrade.
