Moxi Lowers Prices, Offers New 3-Tuner HD DVR

Love TV? If you say no, we know you are lying. For the rest of us willing to embrace our addiction, we have the new three-tuner Moxi HD DVR.

ARRIS announced the new product today. With three tuners, viewers can record three channels at once, all while watching a fourth program. This is the first Moxi product since ARRIS acquired the brand back in September.

As an added bonus, the company plans to bundle the three-tuner Moxi HD DVR with a Moxi Mate for $799. That means while you are recording, you can watch stored content in another room. For another $200, you can get the DVR with a pair of Moxi Mates and see what TV heaven looks like.

Moxi's older products are still good -- as well as a lot cheaper, too. ARRIS announced a $300 price drop on the two-tuner Moxi HD DVR, which was introduced earlier this year. It's now $499. They also slashed $100 off the Moxi Mate, making it $299.

ARRIS will offer two Moxi HD DVR and Moxi Mate bundles.

In case you're wondering whether or not it's a bargain, the company says they plan to add live TV to the Moxi Mate via the Moxi HD DVR at some point. That will be available through an automatic software update.

Moxi services are available free of charge, with no monthly or lifetime DVR fees. There are also no ads. It  also offers access to Rhapsody, Flickr, Netflix, Hulu and other web-based services, though some of these require that the 3rd party PlayOn software (not included) be installed on a local PC. The Moxi HD DVR also provides remote and mobile browser scheduling, which could come in handy if you ever plan to fill that 75 hours of HD recording space (or 300 in standard-def) but forget to set the timer before heading out on a trip.

Moxi also plans to upgrade existing products later this month, with new search and record option menus.
