iHome Creates 3 New Spots to Dock the iPhone, iPod and iPad

By Peter Suciu

A line of three iOS-friendly accessories will be shown by iHome at this week's Consumer Electronics Show. Alarm clocks fitting the range of Apple iOS devices include the iW4 AirPlay Wireless, a 20-watt bedside speaker for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch; the iP18 Cube LED color-changing dual alarm clock speaker system works with the iPhone and iPod touch; and the iD50 app-enhanced Bluetooth alarm clock radio speakerphone includes AM/FM presets and compatibility with the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

iW4 AirPlay

The iW4 AirPlay is a digital alarm clock and speaker system that uses a home's Wi-Fi network to connect to media libraries as well as online apps and resources. The speaker system works with the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to stream a user's iTunes library over the network. It can also take songs from any playlist and use it as a morning wake-up call. This model has an FM radio with six station memory presets and SRS TruBass sound enhancement for better sound. The iW4 is expected to retail for $269.99.

iP18 Cube

The iP18 LED color-changing dual alarm clock is a cube that can dock an iPhone or iPod touch. The cube design has a translucent cabinet with four color-changing modes, also known as Glowtunes, which can shift from white to blue to green to yellow to red. The four color modes include a glowing sequence, fast change sequence, and options for favorite colors and no color. Wake-up modes include dawn, flash, a glowing sequence and, again, no color. The speaker uses Reson8 speaker chamber technology to present full sound. Expect the iP18 to retail for $69.99.

iD50 with Bluetooth

The third offering from iHome is the iD50, is an app-enhanced Bluetooth alarm for the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. The iD50, which is expected to sell for $169.99 when it's released, doubles as a speakerphone for hands-free phone use or conference calls. The iD50 streams music within 30 feet (10 meters) from a Bluetooth-enabled phone or device. This model includes iHome's Reson8 ported cabinet stereo speakers in a compact form factor.

All three models also work with the free iHome Sleep app, as well iHome Radio. The $1.99 iHome Radio app provides access to 30,000 web radio stations, including music, talk, sports and news stations from around the world.

The company will show off all three models at this week's Consumer Electronics Show. However, release dates for each product has yet to be announced.
