Yamaha Pumps Out Receiver, Blu-ray Players & CD Changer

By Rachel Cericola

Yamaha is cranking out (and up) plenty of new products. This week at CEDIA Expo in Atlanta, announcements came for a new receiver, two Blu-ray players, and a CD changer.

The RX-V2065 receiver ($1,399.95) features five 1080p-upscaling HDMI inputs, two HDMI outputs, and the latest audio decoding formats. It's also got networking going on, which means access to web radio, Rhapsody online (via a subscription), PC music file playback, DLNA device support and compatibility with the Yamaha MCX-RC100 MusicCAST2 music distribution system.

Other features include a built-in HD Radio tuner, Pure Direct technology, support for XM and Sirius satellite radio, Yamaha's Digital ToP-ART and High Current Amplification technology, and four preset Scene buttons, which can ready the entire system for designated entertainment experiences. The GUI on-screen display also has graphics that includes component icons and album art. It's like having a Harmony remote -- well, without the remote.

Add in an iPod or Bluetooth devices via the optional YDS-11 Universal Dock or Yamaha Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver (YBA-10), respectively.

The RX-V2065 receiver is a niceĀ control centerĀ for your Blu-ray home theater setup. If you don't have a Blu-ray player, Yamaha can also fill that bill with the BD-S1900 ($699.95) or the BD-S1065 ($599.95).

Compatible with Yamaha's SCENE automatic system, the BD-S1900 supports BD-Live and BonusView features and offers full HD audio decoding, 1080p/24Hz-compatible HDMI and 7.1 multi-channel output with 4 x 2-channel DACs. The BD-S1065 is similar, with BD Live and Bonus View features, x.v.Color and Deep Color compatibility.

Last, but not least, we know that buying a CD changer may not be at the top of your "cool" list, but the CD-C600 will give this component a bigger comeback than New Kids on the Block. This device is actually the first Yamaha CD changer for get the "Made for iPod" seal of approval.

Yamaha's five-disc CD-C600 CD changer is the company's first "Made for iPod" model in the category.

With the ability to hang onto five of your favorite discs, the unit allows you to swap out discs while in play via PlayXchange, or you can just hook up something portable via the USB connection. When an iPod is connected, you can view song, artist and album names on the CD-C600's display; it can also be controlled via the included remote.

Other features for the CD-C600 include Yamaha's own Pure Direct technology, Intelligent Digital Servo to fix defects and dust, and an RS-232C interface and IR in/out terminals. The CD-C600 is out now for $379.95.
