Yamaha Prices Audiophile-Worthy Amplifier at $2,999

Looking to sneak something high-tech into your A/V setup? Yamaha has the perfect solution, known as the A-S1100.

This integrated amplifier is designed with the audiophile in mind. It features all of the same technologies found in the company's flagship A-S3000 and A-S2100 models. It has a patented Yamaha floating balance power design and MOSFET amplifier technology, so that the unit can output lifelike sound, whether you're listening to country, classic rock or speed metal.

Yamaha has given the A-S1100 an all-stage fully discrete construction, balanced transmission and low impedance design, as well as a large-capacity EI-core transformer. The latter helps the unit crank out some serious power and bass that can get the room thumping. The left-right symmetrical chassis design puts the power supply in the center and amplifier sections at each end to deliver 2-channel stereo separation with greater detail.

The outside is just as interesting, with eye-catching level meters, rich piano black wood side panels, and a metal front panel with machined aluminum control knobs. Other features include a built-in phono preamp, redesigned screw-type speaker terminals, and a remote control that matches the unit's complex design but has an easy-to-understand button layout.

"If you are passionate about music, listening to your favorite artists and songs can be intimate and nostalgic. By delivering a full spectrum of sound to faithfully reproduce the emotion and dynamics of these recordings, the A-S1100 delivers an elevated audio experience to this discerning audience," said Bob Goedken, general manager of Yamaha Corporation of America's AV division. "The A-S1100 creates a closer relationship between the music and the listener, which is essential for an inspiring musical experience."

Yamaha will start shipping the A-S1100 in black and brushed silver finishes sometime in September, priced at $2,999.95.
