ViewSonic Goes Big with New Home Theater Projectors (PJD5133, PJD5233, PJD5523w)

ViewSonic is making the option of real home theater a lot more affordable. The company just unveiled three inexpensive projector options, starting at the low price of $539. Besides that big picture, however, they are also offering the option to add 3D into your theater mix.

That starting price belongs to the PJD5133 SVGA DLP Projector. Designed for the truly budget-conscious consumer, this DLP projector delivers a 800x600 image and is rated for 2700 ANSI lumens and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. It also may be perfect for the frothing gamer, seeing as it has multiple PC and video input options. At just 3.2 inches high, this unit would make a killer going away present for one lucky college kid -- or the parent that now has a spare bedroom to fill with a little AV love.

The next step up is the PJD5233 XGA DLP Projector, which has a the slightly higher MSRP of $679. Also designed for those with money (and AV!) on their mind, this DLP projector packs an XGA 1024x768 native resolution into a 5.7-pound package. Other features include 2700 ANSI lumens and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. Like the above model, this one has PC and video inputs aplenty, as well as full 1080p HD video signal support and integrated speakers. Ready to stash in the basement or the backyard, this one is also 120Hz/3D-ready and has ViewSonic's own ViewMatch technology, which boasts adjustable color settings.

Last, but at the top of this new line, is the $849 PJD5523w WXGA DLP Projector. Designed for both the home theater enthusiast and the casual viewer, this one has a widescreen 1280x800 WXGA native resolution. Other features on the DLP projector include the 2700 ANSI lumens and the 3000:1 contrast ratio, as well as support for full 1080p HD video and 120Hz/3D-ready capabilities.

According to ViewSonic, both the PJD5133 and PJD5523w are shipping now. The PJD5233 should be available as early as next week.
