VUDU 2.0 Goes Live for Improved Movie Streaming Experience

By Rachel Cericola

If you're used to using VUDU, you probably noticed something a little different starting on Friday. The company just went live with VUDU 2.0, a brand new user interface.

According to the VUDU blog, the cloud-based service has a new and improved interface promising "to help you discover and enjoy the perfect movie from the comfort of your couch." However, many existing features will stay the same, including links to Rotten Tomatoes reviews as well as cast and crew info for each title.

Some of the new features include updated navigation, better browsing and filtering controls, and personalized recommendations based on your movie viewing and rating history. Also, you will notice a difference in the actual look, as there are more movies listed on every page.

The VUDU 2.0 upgrade is automatic. That means that you don't have to worry about downloads or software discs. However, the company says that not everyone will enjoy the update right away. They currently working on delivering VUDU 2.0 to VIZIO HDTVs and Samsung devices. That said, you will be able to find VUDU 2.0 on plenty of other web-enabled electronics, including the latest addition, D-Link's Boxee Box.

VUDU 2.0 will still offer its collection of HD and HDX media on demand, with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. Pricing will also remain the same, with one-time rentals costing between $.99 to $5.99. Purchased movies run from $4.99 to $24.99.
