Whether you're ready or not, this is the year of 4K Ultra HD TV. Back in January, we saw a slew of new 4K TV sets ready to flood the consumer electronics market (and living rooms). Now, companies are concentrating on ways to entice you into that 4K TV purchase. The latest is NanoTech Entertainment.
The company just announced UltraFlix, a 4K Ultra HD IPTV and Over-the-Top (OTT) streaming video service that promises to deliver the largest library of 4K VOD content to date.
Sure, Netflix just started streaming in 4K, making headlines with a 4K version of the mega-hit House of Cards. However, UltraFlix promises over 200 options for sci-fi, action/thriller, comedy, drama and family movies, as well as sports videos, concerts, TV shows, special events and moving murals -- all in 4K.
Also worth noting is that UltraFlix has 100 hours of free content for viewers just looking for a quick fix or the chance to demo that new 4K TV for friends and family.
The current 4K lineup on UltraFlix includes a nice variety of titles, including Oliver Stone's Freeway, Basil with Christian Slater and Jared Leto, Return of Superfly, the documentary Tibet: Beyond Fear, and much more. Sports fans can enjoy topics such as Valhalla, Way of the Ocean: Australia and others, while music lovers can get up-close with AC/DC, Muse, Pink Floyd, Mumford and Sons, Pearl Jam, and many more from Sony Music and RED Distribution.

Establishing UltraFlix as a destination that offers the world's largest library of 4K VOD content is just the first in a series of strategies that we are implementing to achieve dominance in 4K delivery."
NanoTech just appointed Blake Brown to the position of Lead Technical Developer for the company's Global Media Business. As an award-winning, multiple video-related patent holder, Brown is working on streaming UltraFlix to major 4K TV brands and 4K smartphones, as well as getting NanoTech's Nuvola NP-1 4K OTT streaming media player out to cable TV companies. This will allow UltraFlix to stream to millions of 4K devices over the next year.
The Nuvola NP-1 comes with UltraFlix installed, as well as a few other video, gaming and social media applications. Besides native 4K Ultra HD, the NP-1 supports streaming in HD, SD and 3D. And because it's based on the latest Android operating system, NP-1 users also have access to games and other applications from the NVIDIA Tegra Zone, Ouya, and the Google Play Store.
UltraFlix is available now on the Nuvola NP-1, which will be available to new customers this quarter for an MSRP of $299. The service is then expected to launch on other 4K Ultra HD devices and TVs sometime later this year.
