Black Friday Tablet Deals: BN Nook Tablet 8GB Now $159; 16GB Now $179

By the time Christmas Day rolls around, most folks are going to be sick of hearing about tablets but the truth is that there isn't that much out there this holiday season to really pique one's interest. Soundbars? Okay, there are a few really great ones available from Polk Audio, B&W, Definitive Technology, and the folks at MartinLogan, but it's hard to get excited about a black box you stick underneath that boring black flat panel on your wall. It makes sound. Yay. Pass the egg nog and bag of Chanukah gelt.

Headphones are also going to sell like crazy this year but doesn't everyone already have a pair of headphones? Don't be that guy who buys his wife or girlfriend a pair of headphones, giving her another excuse to tune you out. But what about a really good tablet that doubles as the world's best eReader? The folks at Barnes and Noble have made a valiant effort for a brick and mortar bookseller with their line-up of Nook tablets but the current Nook Tablet and Nook Color offer a lot more. Guess what's on sale right now?

Unlike the first versions of the Nook which were really limited to their eReader capabilities and online shopping in the B&N book store, the Nook Tablet and Color offer a stable Android-based experience that works great with email, surfing the web, and streaming content from sources like Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Pandora (among many others).

Here are the links to buy the Nooks at their lowest prices ever:

Both Nook tablets have 7" VividView LCD screens which offer a crisp reading and browsing experience. The Nook tablets also offer a microSD expansion port which will certainly come in handy if you want to load your own eBooks, music, photos, or videos.

The Nook tablets also work well with great games like Angry Birds (the new Star Wars one is particularly cool) and has really solid battery life; especially when using it as an eReader. My personal record with a Nook Color is 9 books on one charge over a few days. Not bad at all.

Our own Chris C. was pretty impressed with the Nook tablet when he gave it a spin and I think the book reader in your home who wants a portable 7" tablet with the biggest (over 3 million) selection of books and magazines will love it as well. A genuine steal at the asking price.
