Sony announced today the October 7th U.S. launch of the Sony Pictures Blu-ray Club. Joining Disney who has long had a similar rewards program on their Blu-ray releases, Sony's loyalty program will reward consumers for purchasing BD-Live (Profile 2.0) enabled Sony Blu-ray movies. Through the accumulation of points, members can earn Sony products and become part of the greater Sony Rewards program.

Membership in the Sony Pictures Blu-ray Club is free and requires users to create a profile on BD-Live via their network-connected Blu-ray player or over the internet at www.sonyrewards.com/bluray. Points are earned when club members register their Sony Blu-ray movies while connected to BD-Live. The Sony Rewards website will allow users to manage their accounts track their points, which can also be used to participate in activities and sweepstakes throughout the Sony Rewards program.

About the new program, Lexine Wong, Senior Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment comments, "SPHE is dedicated to providing consumers with the most dynamic Blu-ray Discâ„¢ experiences possible. The Sony Pictures Blu-ray Club, made possible by the new interactivity of BD-Live, provides a unique incentive for our consumers who have embraced our Blu-ray high definition movies"
