Sony's BDV-E570 Blu-ray 3D-Ready Home Theater System Now Available

By Rachel Cericola

Manufacturers are rocking the 3D -- or will be soon, anyway. If you're getting giddy about the whole thing, you can actually start buying 3D-ready equipment right now.

Sony just announced that they are now selling the BDV-E570 home theater system ($549.99), which will be ready for 3D content sometime this summer. Best Buy is showing off the system in stores, but there are plenty of ways to get the goods delivered right to your front door (see below).

The system includes a full 5.1-channel HD surround sound speaker package and a 3D-ready Blu-ray player. For now, you can use the setup to watch Blu-ray movies, as well as wirelessly stream BRAVIA Internet Video, which includes Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, Slacker, YouTube, and more.

All of that content should keep you pretty entertained until summer, when Sony rolls out its 3D upgrade. Once available, you can download the firmware update through any web connection.

Other features on the BDV-E570 include 1000 watts of amplified sound, iPhone/iPod Touch compatibility, 1GB of built-in memory for BD-Live right out of the box, and Gracenote's Metadata Service, which allows you to access information about the movies you are watching.

Both BestBuy.com and SonyStyle.com have the system available for order now. Amazon has it for a few dollars cheaper (with free shipping), and will begin shipping March 19, 2010.
