Sharp Ships Four AQUOS Quattron LED HDTVs in LE830 Line

By Rachel Cericola

While most manufacturers are cranking out the 3D TVs, Sharp is doing something completely different. They are rounding out the month of March with the shipment of four new LED-lit HDTVs that play squarely in two dimensions.

However, these are not your typical LED TVs. All four fall under the AQUOS Quattron LE830 Series, which includes Sharp's own Quattron Quad Pixel technology. This little extra adds yellow to the typical red, green, and blue LCD  subpixel array. Sharp says that this delivers better, brighter, and more realistic images, thanks to about a trillion of your favorite colors.

The LE830 models now shipping include the 40-inch LC-40LE830U (MSRP: $1299.99), the 46-inch LC-46LE830U ($1499.99), the 52-inch LC-52LE830U ($1899.99) and the 60-inch LC-60LE830U ($2799.99). All four were first introduced at January's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Some of the other features on each set includes edge-lit LED X-Gen LCD panels, 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced technology, built-in Wi-Fi, four HDMI inputs, AQUOS Link, and USB Viewer for adding in photos, music and digital video.

That connectivity will come in handy when using the LE830's networking features, which includes DLNA support, as well as on-screen access to Netflix, VUDU and CinemaNow. Web access also allows viewers to contact AQUOS Advantage Live customer service right through that big screen.

All four models are currently available for pre-order, with only the 60-incher shipping right now (according to Amazon). The rest are expected to start shipping before the end of this month.
