Samsung Lowers Price of 3D Glasses Across the Board

By Rachel Cericola

Just last month, Samsung announced that they were going to start making the at-home 3D experience much more affordable. The company is now offering two pairs of battery-operated active 3D glasses with every 3D TV purchase.

However, sometimes two pairs just doesn't cut it. Those with larger families (or 3D-free friends) will be happy to know that Samsung is cutting the prices on all of its 3D glasses. Those battery-operated ones (model SSG-3100GB) are now priced at just $49.99. That means that a family of four can enjoy 3D TV for under $100 -- in addition to the cost of the 3D TV, of course.

Samsung is also lowering prices on the SSG-3300CR and SSG-3300GR models, both of which will now carry an MRSP of $129.99 each. Both pairs are rechargeable, with the SSG-3300CR offering prescription-ready features in a more compact package. Both models were previously priced at $179.99 each.

The cream of the crop, the SSG-3700CR, is also getting a price cut. These ultra-light rechargeable active 3D glasses are now priced at $149.99, which is $70 less than before.

Naturally, all boast a realistic 3D experience, as well as battery-savings features that turn the glasses on and off automatically when worn or not in use. All models use Bluetooth, with the SSG-3100GB adding in the need for a battery, which promises up to 70 hours of use.

If you're wanting a bit more out of your purchase, check out Samsung's D6500 Plasma 3D TV series or the models in the D7000 LED 3D TV series and up. Consumers buying sets from either series will also receive Samsung's 3D Starter Kit, which includes two pairs of the SSG-3100GB 3D glasses, all four Shrek movies on Blu-ray 3D disc, and a mail-in voucher for a 3D copy of Megamind.
