The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is the ultimate venue for companies to show off new and exiting technology, and often times you'll encounter new tech still lacking details such as a model number, pricing, or a concrete ship date. But that's OK, because hey - new tech!

That was the case at the Samsung booth this week, where the CE juggernaut showed off an upcoming Blu-ray Disc player and "companion box" enabling the use of the much talked-about Google TV service.

The combination of Samsung's new Blu-ray player and its Google TV companion box allows consumers to surf the Internet and find video using Google's powerful search engine, update Facebook statuses, check email, and a whole lot more - all from their TV screens the same as they might on a traditional computer.

This Google TV hardware duo will be built on the Android platform, and will "include a variety of Internet services for consumers." Samsung also says that "a special Google TV remote control will provide users with a full QWERTY keypad and voice search supported through an internal microphone."

As you can see, details on the hardware and its capabilities are still a bit scant, but Samsung maintains that the pair will be available at retail this year before the end of June.
