Polk Makes Audio Magic with Vanishing Speakers
By Rachel Cericola
This line of in-wall speakers features such a low profile, they are practically invisible once they are installed. While this makes for a pretty picture, it also allows homeowners for better installation options.
"In-wall speakers are often a compromise not only for the ears, but for the eyes," says Al Baron, Polk's product line manager. "We've designed Vanishing Series to be almost imperceptible to they eye once installed, but with tremendous sonic output. Consumers will love hearing this kind of sound without having to look at the speaker."
Polk's Vanishing series will start selling in Q1 2010.
These units also include new tweeters, crossovers and driver designs, with many also featuring the newly-designed Polk PowerPort, which promises better bass response and overall speaker efficiency.
Available in the same cutout sizes as Polk's current models, the Vanishing series is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. "The new warranty policy is a complimentary testament to the lasting quality of Polk custom installation speakers -- most of the original models are still actively pleasing listeners worldwide," says Baron. "We're proud to stand behind our speakers for a lifetime because we know they are built to last."
Polk Audio's Vanishing series should start appearing sometime in Q1 of 2010, with prices ranging from $169.95 to $619.95 each. Expect in-ceiling models to be announced in January, at the Consumer Electronics Show.
