Planar Launches Lampless LED/DLP Q-750i and Q-750d Projectors
In September, Planar got dealers salivating with its QuantumColor Q-750i and Q-750d lampless LED projectors. Now they are ready to rile up a whole new crop: customers. The company just announced that they are now taking orders.
Parent company Runco got together with Texas Instruments to create the company's LED platform. This eliminates all of the engine's moving parts, making it quiet -- and more reliable. Both units also feature Runco's InfiniLight, which boasts 70-percent less power, a mercury-free illumination system, and InstantOn, which eliminates the need to put the projector in standby mode.
"Lampless LED is the future of video projection and Runco, through its innovation, is the leader in this category," stated Planar CEO Gerry Perkel. "The QuantumColor projectors have it all -- no lamp to replace, never-before-seen colors, high reliability, and low power consumption."
Both projectors feature Runco's Personal Color Equalizer (PCE) and SmartColor (RSC) technology. They also exceed the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) standard.
The QuantumColor Series Q-750i has integrated video processing. The Q-750d is paired with Runco's latest DHD controller/processor. Like all other Planar products, this one will be available through the Runco dealer network. The Q-750i will run you $14,995, with the Q-750d costing $17,995. Both are shipping now.
