Today, a lot of people are looking for smart TV features in a new TV. But how do you know you're getting the best smart TV out there? Just ask Netflix.
Late last year, the streaming service launched the "Netflix Recommended TV" program. The idea is that Netflix will give its seal of approval to certain sets that pass an evaluation program. The company looks at how fast the TV turns on, how fast it can launch the Netflix app, and how fast it can resume video playback. Other criteria include "fast video playback," how easy the app is to find on the TV, whether or not the remote has a Netflix button, and if the TV comes with the latest version of Netflix out of the box.
The latest manufacturer to get the thumbs up from Netflix is Panasonic. The company just announced that all of the TVs in Panasonic's 2015 4K UHD Smart TV lineup have been given the Netflix Recommended TV designation. That includes a total of nine models in the CX850, CX800, CX650, and CX600 Series, which features screen sizes ranging from 50 to 65 inches.
These new smart TVs include 4K Ultra HD images that boast better brightness and a wider color gamut. Each one also has a new TV GUI that's powered by Firefox. This allows users to search live TV, devices and applications all from a single interface. Besides a better, faster interface, there's also an option to "pin" favorite channels, devices, apps and web pages for quick access. Other features include Local Dimming technology for deeper blacks and better contrast and Voice Assistant Pro (CX850 only) for operating the TV with the sound of your voice.
The CX850 Series includes the 55-inch TC-55CX850U ($2,999.99) and the 65-inch TC-65CX850U ($3,999.99). The CX800 Series has the 55-inch TC-55CX800U ($1,899.99), the 60-inch TC-60CX800U ($2,399.99), and the 65-inch TC-65CX800U ($2,999.99). The CX650 Series includes the 55-inch TC-55CX650U ($1,499.99), the 60-inch TC-60CX650U ($1,799.99), and the 65-inch TC-65CX650U ($2,199.99). And finally, the CX600 Series has the lone 50-inch TC-50CX600U ($1,099.99).
