Onkyo Unveils A-9070 Amplifier and C-7070 CD Player

Onkyo wants you to upgrade some of that older equipment. The company just announced the A-9070 Integrated Stereo Amplifier and the C-7070 CD Player.

Designed to put a current spin on a few old favorites, both components have a state-of-the-art design and connectivity options that some of your current equipment may be missing.

First up is the A-9070 Integrated Stereo Amplifier. This unit offers four discrete modes: integrated amp, poweramp, pre-amp, and split power/pre-amp. That versatility makes this device easy to incorporate into almost any setup. It also promises ample power with a parallel push-pull amplification design, three-stage inverted Darlington circuitry, dedicated Wolfson 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for symmetrically designed L/R channels, and four large 15,000 µF capacitors.

Another feature is the DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry). Rounding out the selection of interesting features are closed ground-loop circuits and a vibration-damping construction for clear sound across a wide range. It also has a variety of connection options, including an independent headphone amplifier, a phonograph equalizer, and gold-plated audio terminals/speaker posts.

For all of those CDs you've amassed, Onkyo has the C-7070 Compact Disc Player. Cleared out some of that clutter? Well, the C-7070 can also connect to an iPod or iPhone via the USB port, as well as play music from a connected flash-memory drive.

Boasting excellent playback, the C-7070 has vibration-damping brass legs, a 1.6 mm flat base, a full-floating circuit board, a pair of Wolfson 192 kHz/24-bit DACs, and Onkyo's Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry. All of these features should result in reduced noise and distortion, as well as better overall sound quality.

Other features on the C-7070 include a three-stage dimmer function, a brushed aluminum front panel, a silent aluminum CD tray, gold-plated audio terminals, and headphone amplifier differential circuitry.

Onkyo says that both products should start selling in November. The A-9070 will carry an MSRP of $1299, with the C-7070 priced at $799.
