Onkyo Debuts Remote 2 App for AV Receivers

By Rachel Cericola

Everyone loves enhancements, especially when they are free. Onkyo just announced an upgrade to its free control app, which is designed for use with the iPhone and iPod touch. The new-and-improved Onkyo Remote 2 app is now available.

Remote 2 can turn your favorite portable into a fully functioning wireless remote control for Onkyo's 2010 and 2011 networked AV receivers.

A few of the new enhancements include expanded multi-room control, which allows the user to control output to individual zones. Another added bonus is that the new app has a completely revamped graphical look. A few examples of the app's new look are listed in the images below.

Onkyo's Remote 2 app allows those with network-capable Onkyo home theater and hi-fi systems to use that portable as an all-in-one controller for multiple components.

Another bonus is that this app allows you to find all of the most used functions very easily. Some of those options include play, stop, skip, and pause; volume, bass, and treble adjustment; listening mode and input source selection; network source selection; and radio station. Of course, it also allows you to easily find music in your own digital library, as well as web services, such as Pandora and Spotify.

Onkyo's Remote 2 app is available now, and compatible with all network-ready Onkyo A/V receivers released in 2010 and 2011. Some models may require a firmware upgrade, so make sure to check for that in your settings menu.
