Onkyo Debuts Apple-Friendly iOnly Music Players and Docks

By Rachel Cericola

Onkyo is hoping to get a piece of that ever-growing Apple fanbase. The company just announced iOnly, a series of products designed for use with the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

The iOnly family is making its debut with three compact music players and docking systems. The three models, the iOnly Play (ABX-100), iOnly Stream (ABX-N300) and iOnly Bass (SBX-300), promise room-filling sound in portable, affordable packages.

Expect the iOnly Play to debut first. Designed specifically for iPod and iPhone devices, the iOnly Play is perfect for the shelf, table or countertop. It features a flat-back exterior, brushed-aluminium base and cover, and dimmable foot lighting. There's also a sliding cover, which can conceal and/or protect the device's LCD display and touch-screen control buttons.

Next up will be the iPad-friendly iOnly Bass. This device's docking port is located on the lower front edge, and promises solid support for that sensitive tablet. Other features include a pair of full-range speakers, a tuned subwoofer port, and an aluminum handle for taking the device from room to room.

Both the iOnly Play and iOnly Bass boast precision-engineered amplifier circuitry, full-range speakers mounted in isolated enclosures, and Active Bass Control. Both models also come with a wireless remote.

Onkyo says that the iOnly Play and iOnly Bass will debut in October. Each one will have an MSRP of $249. The company has yet to detail the iOnly Stream, only saying that it will follow later this year.
