Onkyo Creates Another Control Option with Android App

By Rachel Cericola

Soon, you really won't be able to live without that smartphone. Besides endless hours of entertainment on the go, that portable can also be pretty handy at home. In fact, everything in your AV setup seems to have its own app these days. Now, Onkyo has announced another app option, for all of you Android users out there.

Just announced, Onkyo's Remote App for Android does allow owners of Onkyo equipment to use that portable as a method of remote control. However, the real hook is that the app throws in the ability to stream wireless audio from that same Android-based device to your connected AV equipment.

Another nice perk on this Android app is that you don't need a giant TV to do any navigation. Instead, users can flip through all connected content right on that portable, as well as select the input source and adjust volume and tone. Users can also pick and control output to other zones, making this a convenient control method for a whole-house setup.
