NAD Cranks Out NAD VISO 1 Wireless Digital Music System

By Rachel Cericola

High-end AV companies continue to jump on the digital bandwagon. The latest is NAD Electronics, who just announced its new VISO sub-brand. The first model to be released under this brand is the VISO 1 Wireless Digital Music System, which is available now.

Ready to rock out of the box, VISO 1 includes a rotating dock that's compatible with both the iPhone and iPod touch. Once docked, the VISO 1 can charge up the connected device, as well as blast music right from that portable device. It also comes with its own remote, so users can flip through even the largest digital music collections from across the room.

Multiple years of experience are behind the VISO 1. It combines acoustic design by PSB's Paul Barton, elegant cosmetics from designer David Farrage, and of course, NAD's own Direct Digital DAC/amplifier technology.

If you don't have an iOS portable, don't fret. Even though the VISO 1 is designed to cradle Apple devices, it also has aptX Bluetooth wireless capability, which promises high-end audio quality from any other Bluetooth-enabled device.

Another handy feature is the optical digital input, which allows the VISO 1 to be connected to something like a Sonos system or an Apple TV box. NAD even recommends that the VISO 1 be paired with a flat-panel HDTV, via that optical digital input.

"The NAD VISO 1 is a true high-end sound system designed for those who demand the best in sound," said Greg Stidsen, NAD's director of technology and product planning. "Our audience isn't defined by lifestyle as much as they are defined by their commitment to an exceptional, clean, vivid music experience."

NAD's VISO 1 is available now, with an MSRP of $700.
