MartinLogan Expands Its Motion Series with New Motion C and Motion FX Loudspeakers

By Ian White

The folks at MartinLogan have been very busy in 2010. Not only have they introduced a slew of new and exciting models, but they have done a fabulous job of making their products more accessible to us common folks struggling in the current economic conditions. MartinLogan sent shivers down our spines in Atlanta at CEDIA Expo with the announcement of the new ElectroMotion series which will be available in early-2011, but they didn't stop there. The highly acclaimed Motion series just got a little larger with the introduction of the new Motion C center channel loudspeaker and the new Motion FX dedicated surround loudspeakers.

The new Motion C center channel loudspeaker features higher power handling and Vojtko crossover topology which should make it a better match for larger systems, including MartinLogan's electrostatic models. Just like its smaller sibling, the Motion 8, the Motion C is a compact center channel designed to produce a stunning dynamic range and the jaw-dropping clarity that MartinLogan loudspeakers are famous for. Finished with a real black ash veneer to aesthetically match the larger Motion 10 and Motion 12 floorstanders, the Motion C provides a step-up in performance while enjoying the same affordability synonymous with the Motion Series. The Motion C is 24" x 6" x 4.4" and weighs close to ten pounds. It also features dual front firing bass ports.

The new Motion FX, is the series' first dedicated surround channel loudspeaker featuring dual-folded Motion tweeters with a wide dispersion array suited for surround channel applications. Available in either white or black, the Motion FX is designed for a corner mount, wall-mounting, or angled wall mount. The Motion FX is 14.5" x 5.8" x 11.2" and weighs 8 pounds.
