MartinLogan Encore TF Speaker: $199 ($300 off)

By Big Picture Big Sound Deal Meister

MartinLogan Encore TF
MartinLogan Encore TF features a thin film transducer for excellent midrange transparency.
If you're into high end audio or home theater, you've probably heard of MartinLogan.  They're a Kansas-based loudspeaker company that makes some of the world's finest loudspeakers... but at a price.  MartinLogan's electrostatic and ATF (Advanced Thin Film) designs grace the homes of well-heeled audiophiles around the world.

And now you can get a taste of that high-end sound for a super low price as Amazon is offering MartinLogan's Encore TF LCR speaker not for the list price of $499 each, but for a remarbale $199 with free shipping - that's a savings of $300 (60%) per speaker.  Pick up one as a center channel or pick up a whole set of five for $995, or go for a full seven channel system for just $1393.

MartinLogan Encore TF x 5
With the option to mount vertically or horizontally, the Encore TF does equally well as a center channel or as front or rear speakers.

The Encore TF was originally designed as a center channel speaker providing an aesthetic and sonic match to MartinLogan's far more expensive electrostatic speakers, and its excellent reproduction of dialog and other sounds in the critical midrange registers makes it well suited for that task.  However, its high 92 dB efficiency, 100 Watts power handling and outstanding transparency, as well as flexible horizontal or vertical placement options make it a great choice for front and surround speakers for a full 5.1 or 7.1 channel home theater rig.

Many home theater experts recommend using identical speakers for all channels in order to get consistent frequency response and imaging characteristics all around the room and the Encore is a perfect choice for this kind of system.

The Encore TF's thin film driver is where the magic happens.
The key to the Encore's sonic success is its Advanced Thin Film (ATF) driver.  Based on RADIA planar technology, the Encore's ATF driver approaches the clarity and transparency of MartinLogan's electrostatic panels but at a much smaller cabinet size and a much more affordable price.  Hand-built using audiophile-grade polypropylene capacitors and air-core coils, the Encore's crossover employs MartinLogan's proprietary Vojtko topology for low distortion and seamless driver integration.  This is a true taste of high end luxury sound at bargain basement pricing.

Keep in mind that the Encore is a fairly compact speaker (6 x 24 x 4.7 inches), which means it cannot produce deep bass (its rated frequency response is 70-20,000 Hz +/- 3 dB). For this reason, we'd recommend mating it with one or two subwoofers, depending on your room dimensions and layout.  Any high quality powered subwoofer with clean tight bass reproduction will do, but MartinLogan's subwoofers are a particularly good match due to their fast transient response and excellent dynamics.

MartinLogan Dynamo subwoofer
Amazon has MartinLogan's 10-Inch Dynamo subwoofer on sale at 31% below list ($449).  This is a 200-Watt beast with a 10" driver that can go all the way down to 25 Hz.  It makes an excellent match for the Encore speakers.

This offer is only good while supplies last.
