Less than a week after CES 2015 wrapped up its annual electronics extravaganza in Vegas, Marantz is making a new AV announcement. Why wait until after the biggest trade show of the year? Well, maybe they wanted to see how high-resolution audio went over at the show. Maybe the company just didn't want to get lost in the shuffle. However, news about the NA6005 Network Audio Player is out now -- and the product will soon follow.
It's one worthy of a spotlight, too. Designed as a complement to the PM6005 and CD6005 amplifier/CD player duo, the NA6005 will soon bring an unlimited (or close to it) number of digital music sources to existing stereo components.
The NA6005 will come packing support for streaming a ton of music wirelessly, using WiFi and Bluetooth. That means you'll be able to add all sorts of web-enabled goodies, from web radio to services like Spotify Connect. It even adds in iOS devices and iTunes from a Mac or PC, with support for Apple AirPlay. If you prefer to store music on a NAS or media server, that's welcomed here as well, thanks to DLNA 1.5 features.
However, the NA6005 isn't just about quantity. It's promises the quality as well, with "reference class technologies" to make those sources sound great. The NA6005 has perks such as a Digital-Analog-Converter and unique output stage. It also has Marantz's own HDAM and HDAM-SA2 in a hybrid configuration for delivering low noise and high speed, which boasts detailed and powerful playback.
Besides support for WAV, WMA, MP3 and AAC files, the NA6005 can tackle high-resolution audio formats including DSD2.8MHz/5.6MHz, FLAC 192/24, WAV 192/24, AIFF and ALAC.
Other features include a front USB input, an optical digital input, and support for the Marantz Hi-Fi Remote app.
Marantz will start selling the NA6005 Network Audio Player sometime in February, with an MSRP of $649.
