LG LH90 LED-lit LCD HDTVs First with THX Display Certification
By Rachel Cericola
THX developed this certification to make your buying process easier. Go for the good stuff, right? Well, yes, if you buy into their certification process and are also interested in having an easy setup, via THX Movie Mode. That is one of the LH90's built-in features, which provides one-touch access to studio reference color, black levels and clean signal processing -- all up to snuff with THX specifications.
Announced earlier this year at January's Consumer Electronics Show, the LH90 series also includes full-array LED backlighting with a claimed "2,000,000:1" Mega Contrast ratio for awesome picture quality and detail. Other features include TruMotion 240Hz for smooth motion and local dimming technology for enhanced contrast over standard backlit and edge-lit LCD TVs.
"Creating a new era in LCD technology the THX-Certified LH90 blends style, sophistication and visual performance, sending a clear message to consumers about LG's commitment to picture quality and innovation," said Peter Reiner, LG's senior vice president of marketing and strategy. "LG's advanced LED Backlight technology precisely controls the brightness of specific areas of the screen, providing crisper, clearer pictures while using less energy than traditional LCD models."
Boasting the Energy Star 3.0 seal of approval, the unit also includes LG's Intelligent Sensor for dynamic adjustment of picture brightness optimized for current room lighting conditions, flexible backlight control options and a wealth of video adjustments. It's also got ISFccc certification for those who prefer to have their sets professionally calibrated by an ISF technician.
Suggested retail prices are $1,899.95 for the 42-inch model, $2,399.95 for the 47 inches, and $3,199.95 for the 55-incher. LG's new LH90 series is now available through national retailers.
