LG’s Signature OLED TV is All About the Essence

By Rachel Cericola

The latest OLED TV from LG Electronics is oh-so-thin and very pretty. It's also part of the company's newly launched Signature line, which includes a washing machine, a refrigerator, and an air purifier.

It may seem like a bit of a hodge-podge, but all of the new products in the Signature lineup are very eye-catching. LG says that the idea behind the brand is "to stay pure and sophisticated, true to each product's essence."

What that means exactly is whatever the heck you want it to mean. What it means to us is that there's going to be a really good looking, wafer-thin OLED TV coming sometime very soon. Okay, it's actually as thin as a sheet of glass, with an OLED panel that's about one-tenth of an inch. LG says that the same super-thin TV will come packing a killer sound system "that would be the envy of any audiophile" -- that's because the actual speakers are stuffed inside the stand.

The Signature OLED TV features Dolby Vision HDR, Pixel Dimming, 10-bit panel/10-bit processing power, LG's ColorPrime Pro technology, and more. It also has LG's new webOS 3.0 Smart TV platform, which boasts a better user experience with access to more on-screen content than ever before.

According to LG, the Signature OLED TV does have the Ultra HD Premium seal of approval from the UHD Alliance (UHDA). That means that this TV has met the organization's requirements for resolution, HDR (high dynamic range), peak luminance, black levels, wide color gamut, immersive audio, and more.

LG plans to start rolling out the Signature series sometime after CES 2016, which runs from January 6-9, 2016. However, there's currently no word on which products will be released first, and at what price.
