LG's New LAS855M Music Flow Sound Bar is Extra Curvy to Match Your Curved TV

By Rachel Cericola

We've seen a slew of curved TV sets lately. This type of TV has a curved screen, which is designed to wrap the viewer up in the action. These models promise an immersive viewing experience and an eye-catching design. So why would you want to mess that up with a regular flat soundbar?

LG Electronics is throwing a curve into its current audio lineup, announcing its first curved soundbar. The LG LAS855M Music Flow Wireless Curved Sound Bar will start shipping sometime in October 2015.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Samsung, who debuted a lineup of curved soundbars earlier this year. Of course, the LAS855M is designed to complement LG's line of curved OLED TVs, such as the EG9600 Smart Curved OLED 4K TV.

Boasting multiple speakers strategically positioned within the slim cabinet, the LG LAS855M is a 4.1-channel speaker system that can be wall-mounted or placed on an AV cabinet or shelf. It promises 360 watts of total sound for movies, sports, gaming or just everyday TV watching.

In case you can't tell by what's written above, this soundbar has four separate speakers inside, as well as i-Sound, a mode that can automatically adjust the output settings based on the content playing. The soundbar is also paired with a wireless subwoofer.

Also, because this is a Music Flow soundbar, it can connect to your home's WiFi network and will work with the rest of LG's Music Flow audio family. That means you can connect the soundbar to various wireless speakers for an easy, whole-house solution. Not only is it simple and something that should fit any budget, but it can actually put music wherever you want it. All Music Flow speakers even have Google Cast, so users can "cast" music from iOS and Android devices, Macs, Windows and Chromebook laptops directly to the speaker. That way, you can enjoy everything from stored music to Google Play to Pandora and more, all on the LAS855M soundbar setup.

Besides providing audio for that curved TV and anywhere else in the house, this soundbar also has quite a sleek look. LG has given the LAS855M a nice curve and a slim design, which can fit into almost any space.

Other features include Bluetooth support, a Home Cinema Mode, a Multi-room Mode, HDMI pass-through, and the option to control the soundbar using a single mobile device or an existing remote (assuming it's compatible).

"Our new premium Curved Sound Bar is the perfect complement to our stunning curved OLED TVs and offers consumers the best home entertainment experience with beautiful devices that look as great as they perform," said David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing at LG Electronics USA. "We welcome the new Curved Sound Bar to LG's Music Flow family, which offers virtually limitless listening choices and premium listening experience that's easy to enjoy."

The LG LAS855M Music Flow Wireless Curved Sound Bar will start selling sometime in October, with an MSRP of $699.
