LG and Alain Mikli Debut Stylish 3D Glasses

By Rachel Cericola

Even people that love 3D don't love the glasses. LG is hoping to change your mind, and they've recruited the design team at Alain Mikli to help.

LG has just announced a partnership with the French designer, which will yield a new innovation in 3D eyewear. The plan is to make a pair of glasses that looks better and feels better than what's currently out there. The unnamed glasses will include Mikli's streamlined trademark design and metals, as well as a special nose pad that's been co-patented by Mikli and LG.

"Numerous studies have shown that of all the challenges facing 3D technology acceptance, the glasses always rank near the top," said Havis Kwon, president of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. "The fact is, 3D viewing glasses don't have to be ugly and uncomfortable. We've just proven that with Monsieur Mikli's help in creating what are probably the best, most stylish 3D glasses in the world."

Mikli is certainly up to the task, with over 30 years in the eyewear business, and boutiques in New York, Paris, Milan, and other hot spots around the globe.

LG plans to show off the glasses in January 2011 at the Consumer Electronics Show. The company will then package the glasses along with LG's 2011 premium 3D TVs.
