LG HDTV Sale: Save Up to 51 Percent on Web-Enabled Smart TVs

By Rachel Cericola

Sometimes 300 or more channels just isn't enough. Instead of spending hours flipping through channels of news, sports, kiddie programming, movies, and more, you can spend hours flipping through news, sports, kiddie programming, movies, and everything else that the Internet has to offer. Thanks to today's web-enabled so-called "Smart" HDTVs, the entertainment possibilities truly are endless.

Now, the pricing is as smart as the TVs. Amazon has announced a deal on four of LG's web-enabled Smart HDTVs. From now through January 29, 2011, you can buy an LG Internet-ready HDTV at a major discount -- some are up to 51 percent off! There are currently four models available, including one that can also do 3D. Of course, the big hook is the web stuff, which LG delivers through its NetCast service. That provides on-screen, on-demand access to services such as Netflix, VUDU, YouTube, Picasa, and much more. Take a peek at all four models on Amazon's main deal page:

It's important to note that this pricing is seriously low. In fact, it's so low, that LG doesn't want Amazon to give you a sneak peek. Instead, you'll need to place items into your shopping cart to get the most up-to-date price. If you're worried about whether or not this price is actually that low, stop worrying. Amazon is offering its low price guarantee on each of these HDTVs. That means if you find the same set for less within 14 days of the ship date, Amazon will credit you the difference.

It will be hard to beat the price on that 3D TV, which is LG's 55LX6500 3D LED. Aside from a 1080p picture, this set features LED Plus backlighting, with basic local dimming capability of up to 16 addressable segments. There's also TruMotion 240Hz technology, two USB ports, and four HDMI inputs. It also supports Wi-Fi, via LG's add-on AN-WF100 Wi-Fi USB Adapter or the AN-WL100W Wireless Media Kit. Find out more about this 3D TV on Amazon's product page:

Because these prices are lower than the manufacturer's "minimum advertised price," you'll need to add the item to your shopping cart to view the discounted price.

If you're not ready to do 3D, there are two models from the LG LE5400 Series. The 47-inch 47LE5400 and 55-inch 55LE5400 both feature full 1080p HD, as well as TruMotion 120Hz technology and LED backlighting. Both also feature Wi-Fi support, via either of the adapters mentioned above. Other features include a 4,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, two USB ports, and four HDMI ports. Our own Greg Robinson recently got his hands on the 47-incher, saying, "Its robust feature set combined with remarkably simple operation should not be overlooked." Last, but certainly not least, Amazon has the 42-inch 42LD550 LCD HDTV. This is the only LCD in the bunch that doesn't double as an LED. That said, it does have the 1080p resolution, the TruMotion 120Hz technology, and the Wi-Fi option, via the AN-WF100 adapter. Other features include a 150,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, two USB ports and four HDMI inputs. Find out more about this model on Amazon's product page:

As we mentioned, these prices are only good through January 29, 2011 or until Amazon runs out of stock. These discounts are only good on items purchased directly through Amazon, who is also offering free shipping on all discounted sets, as well as free 30-day returns. Happy shopping!
