Are you ready for some football? Maybe you just need the right TV.
Thankfully, LG Electronics is running a big sale on OLED TVs, just in time for the big game. From now through February 13, the company is discounting several TVs to celebrate Super Bowl 50 -- and more specifically, LG's very first Super Bowl ad featuring OLED TV.
Four of the five OLED TVs on sale feature eye-popping 4K images. This means that each set has four times the resolution of a full 1080p HDTV. This is on top of that OLED technology, which has self-lighting pixels that can switch on and off automatically to create brighter colors and deeper black levels.
The first two models on sale are the 65EF9500 Flat OLED 4K Smart TV and the 65EG9600 Curved OLED Smart TV. Both of these 65-inch models typically sell for $5,999, but you can snag each one for $4,999 during this promotional period (and save $1,000). If you're willing to wait until February 7, LG will throw in your choice of the 43-inch 43UF6400 4K Smart LED TV, the LAS855M 4.1-channel Music Flow Wireless Curved Soundbar package, the LAS851M 4.1-channel Music Flow WiFi Soundbar package, or a $300 gift card.
Of course, the big difference between the two models is that one has a flat screen and one is curved for a more immersive viewing experience. Also know that the 65EF9500 has high dynamic range (HDR), with the 65EG9600 expected to get that via a firmware upgrade at some point. These sets even have LG's 4-Color Pixel technology, which puts a white sub-pixel into the usual red/green/blue mix. Both TVs come with the webOS 2.0 Smart TV platform, LG's Tru-4K upscaling engine, built-in WiFi, harman/kardon sound, three HDMI inputs, and three USB ports.
The next pair of OLED TVs on sale is the 55EF9500 Flat OLED 4K Smart TV and the 55EG9600 Curved OLED 4K Smart TV. These are the same exact TVs as mentioned above, except in smaller, 55-inch screen sizes. Each one typically sells for $3,999, but is also being discounted by $1,000. That means you can score one of these TVs for a limited time for just $2,999.
LG is planning to sweeten this deal on February 7, by adding in the option to get the 42-inch 42LF5600 1080p LED TV, the 43-inch 43LF5400 1080p LED TV, the LAS551H 2.1-channel Bluetooth Soundbar package, the LAS454B 2.1-channel Bluetooth Soundbar package, or a $200 gift card with every purchase.
And finally, LG is discounting the 55EG9100 1080p Curved OLED Smart TV. This curved OLED TV doesn't have 4K, but it does have a full 1080p HD image, the webOS smart TV platform, and a curved screen.
Normally $2,499, LG is discounting this 55-incher down to $1,999. Also, if you can wait until February 7, the company will throw in a choice of the LAS454B 2.1-channel Bluetooth Soundbar package or a $100 gift card. Of course, if you wait, this set may sell out!
Oh, and that commercial -- well, we can see why LG would want to be celebrating. We're not entirely sure what it's about, but we know that it has Jake Scott (Ridley's son) directing Liam Neeson as the "Man from the Future." Check out the tiny teaser below.
