LG Debuts New Infinia 3D TV Models: LX6500 and LX9500

By Rachel Cericola

So now that LG has you frothing for its BX580 Blu-ray Player, you are going to need a 3D-compatible TV -- at least if you want to take advantage of its 3D features. Today, the company announced availability on two 3D LED series, the LX6500 and the LX9500.

First up is the top of the line LX9500, which features 47- and 55-inch models. Both combine edge lighting and local dimming for a super-sharp image in a slim bezel. Features include a rated 10,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 480Hz TruMotion technology, and THX certification. Oh -- and of course, the ability to show 3D content.

One other nifty feature is the Magic Wand remote controller. Sadly, you can't wave this thing and make your favorite cancelled TV shows come back. However, it does allow for Wii-like remote control right from your couch.

If you are bored with summer reruns, each unit also has on-screen access to NetCast. This is LG's added content service, which provides instant entertainment via Netflix, CinemaNow, VUDU, Pandora, YouTube, and more.

The LX6500 series is very similar to the 9500. It has the 3D, the NetCast features, and even the same screen sizes. The big differences here is that the 6500 models have a rated 8,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 240Hz refresh rate. Also, these models do not have the THX certification and don't come with the Magic Wand remote.
