LG Adds 3 Wireless Soundbars to Music Flow Lineup

By Rachel Cericola

While you're getting ready to stuff those stockings with all sorts of high-tech toys, manufacturers are already planning for the next big thing -- or things. In just a few short weeks, CES 2016 will be upon us, where manufacturers will unleash all of the consumer electronics expected for the coming year.

To get a jump on the mayhem, companies will start announcing new products early. In fact, we're already seeing a few things we wouldn't mind getting up close and personal with during show time. For instance, LG Electronics just announced three new soundbars for its Music Flow lineup.

Because these are Music Flow soundbars, the SH8, SH7, and SH6 all have built-in WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, so you can put a variety of musical selections into any room. Besides wireless streaming, there's a one-button pairing feature that can link any one of these soundbars with other Music Flow speakers around the house.

Each one also includes a new feature that LG calls "BT-Fi." This perk can switch the connectivity method based on the content source, so you won't need to be flipping and flopping.

The SH8 and SH7 each come with a matching wireless subwoofer. The SH6 doesn't need one, since it packs in six independent speaker drivers and two bass ports to highlight low frequency tones.

Other features include Google Cast and Auto Music Play capabilities, the ability to access soundbar functions via LG TV remotes, and Adaptive Sound Control (ASC). The latter is a new feature for 2016, which can change the soundbar's settings to accommodate various content or media types.

In addition to the soundbars, LG will unleash three X-Boom audio systems, the OM7560, OM5560, and CM9960. Each one boasts wireless connectivity, with the OM7560 and OM5560 packing an entire audio system into a single unit. All three also include Sampler Creator, so users can record sounds on a smartphone and beam it to any X-Boom system. There's even something called Party Thruster lever, which can create a multicolored light show that syncs with your music.

"LG's Music Flow audio system offers users greater versatility than ever before, thanks to advanced portability and connectivity options that support excellent audio quality any time or place," said Brian Kwon, president and CEO at LG's Home Entertainment Company. "The largest consumer electronics tradeshow in the world is the perfect platform for debuting our newest soundbars and X-Boom audio systems."

LG plans to show off all of the new products at CES 2016 in Las Vegas next month. All three of the 2016 Music Flow soundbar models and the X-Boom systems are then expected to ship sometime in the first half of 2016.
