KEF Debuts Super-Slim T Series Speakers

By Rachel Cericola

Can KEF flatten its audio competition? Time will tell, but the company has certainly done a number on its own T Series. Designed for use with flat-panel TVs, this all-new speaker line boasts a super-slim appearance, with ultra-low profile bass and midrange drivers, and a large, fully vented tweeter.

The T Series includes three individual speaker components, as well as three full systems. On the outside, each cabinet measures a mere 35mm deep. Inside, there's the new large diaphragm tweeter we already mentioned, which was part of the company's Concept Blade loudspeaker project.

If you're going for individual components, the T Series comes in small and large sizes. The T101 is the smaller satellite, with a 25mm vented tweeter and a 100mm low-profile LF packed in a closed-box design. Those run $499.99 per pair, with the T101c center-channel speaker costing $249.99 each. If you want something a little larger, the T301s have the same tweeter, but two low-profile LFs. Designed for larger room, these have an MSRP of $699.99 per pair, with the T301c center channel coming in at $349.99 each.

Finally, the T-2 subwoofer is listed as a stand-alone component, even though it's not sold separately. Instead, it's only available in the packages (see below). Designed to match the satellites, the T-2 does have the same slim profile and closed-box design, but with a 10-inch driver inside.

Aside from the individual components, KEF has also created three T Series package options. The T105 is the entry-level system, featuring four of the T101 satellites, one T101c center channel and one T-2 subwoofer for $1499.99. The T205 package mixes things up, with two T101 satellites, two T301 satellites, one T301c center channel and the T-2 subwoofer for $1799.99. Finally, the T305 packages four T301 satellite speakers with the one T301c center channel, as well as the T-2 sub, all for $1999.99.

All of the T Series units also feature KEF's own Selecta-mount system, which automatically adjusts the crossover based on how the speaker is mounted.
