Harman Kardon Puts HD Audio Everywhere with New Omni+ Wireless Music System

By Rachel Cericola

Are you ready to rock? There are certainly a lot of companies looking to help you do just that. We've seen a slew of whole-house, wireless audio products over the past year or so.

Harman Kardon has been cranking out different solutions for theĀ Omni lineup since late in 2014. Now, the company is introducing the Harman Kardon Omni+, a whole new collection of WiFi-enabled HD home audio products.

The new line includes the Omni 10+, Omni 20+, Omni Bar+, Adapt+, and the Omni 50+. Because Omni+ products are wireless, these options can tap into all sorts of streaming services, including Google Cast for Audio, Spotify Connect, Deezer, Tidal, and more. (Just know that subscriptions and/or fees may apply.)

Of course, you can still stream all of your stored music as well. Each product offers lossless high-definition music streaming (24-bit/192KHz). According to Harman, this perk should deliver better sound than your typical CD.

The Omni 10+, Omni 20+, Omni Bar+, Adapt+, and the Omni 50+ all feature 5GHz WiFi and Bluetooth support. The Omni 50+ adds in IPX5 splashproof and outdoor capabilities as well. The upcoming Omni Bar+ also has an HDMI input and Harman Display virtual surround sound.

Each Omni+ model is also insanely easy to set up and use with the Harman Kardon Controller app for iOS and Android devices. Users can start with one Omni+ product and add on, in order to stream the same music everywhere or put different music into different rooms. Listeners can even pair Omni+ speakers to create a 2.1 or 5.1 surround system, all with no additional equipment.

"The Harman Kardon Omni+ line is unique in its true HD sound quality, versatility, and functionality," said Michael Mauser, president of the lifestyle division at Harman. "Customers want to stream from many different sources, control their speakers from their phone or tablet, and have one system to meet all of their needs. Whether they want one speaker or five, this Harman Kardon home audio system provides the best in wireless HD sound quality and access to all the content they care about."

Harman Kardon will start shipping all of the new Omni+ speakers sometime this summer. If you want to upgrade your existing, non-wireless audio gear, the company will be selling the Adapt+ adapter for $199. The Omni 10+, Omni 20+, and Omni 50+ are priced at $249, $349, and $499, respectively. The Omni Bar+ is listed with an MSRP of $999.
