A second chance at KURO? You can take home the Pioneer KURO PDP-5020 for under $2K with free shipping.
Sometimes It Pays to Wait

Looking for a deal on a big screen HDTV this holiday season?  Well apparently someone in OneCall's warehouse just stumbled across a treasure trove of high-end new-in-the-box brand name HDTVs that are, shall we say, a little long in the tooth?  These TVs are all brand new, factory-sealed, and covered by the original manufacturer's warranties, but these are mostly non-current models.  My favorite? A brand new 50-inch Pioneer KURO PDP-5020 1080p Plasma HDTV for under 2 grand with free shipping (see link below).

Pioneer once ruled the roost of the HDTV space and for good reason - the deepest blacks and most vibrant colors of any HDTV on the market.  But they were priced outside the realm of affordability for most people, and this caused Pioneer to stop making plasma TVs last year (though they do still support them).  But the KURO is still legendary in video purist circles.  And now you can get one for a whole lot less than you used to.

Another highlight is Samsung's excellent LN55A950 - a 55-Inch LED TV from Samsung.  OK, as you probably know, the only thing "LED" about an "LED TV" is its backlighting.  The set still uses an LCD panel to produce a picture.  But the A950 series was Samsung's top of the line local dimming LED backlit model, similar in many ways to this year's 8500 series.  The A950 model produces excellent black levels (contrast), the likes of which are still rarely seen on any HDTV regardless of technology.

There are many more to pick from (see complete list below) including models from Sony, Samsung, Pioneer and Panasonic.  And all stock is extremely limited.  In some cases, such as the KURO, only one is available.  So if you click through and see an out of stock notice or the product page has been removed, don't be too surprised, but as of 5:00 this afternoon (Friday, 12/11), all are available.
