In 1974, Robert Towne penned the screenplay for a little film called Chinatown. The following year, Mr. Towne accepted an Academy Award for that very same screenplay. Big Picture Big Sound has teamed up with Dolby and Paramount to offer one lucky reader the opportunity to win an autographed copy of the film in its brand new Blu-ray Disc release, signed by Robert Towne himself.
Directed by Roman Polanski, Chinatown was nominated for a total of eleven Academy Awards in 1974, but Mr. Towne's Oscar was the film's only win. The film earned nearly universal praise from critics and movie-goers alike when it was released in theaters and went on to stand the test of time, earning a spot on the American Film Institute's coveted list of the top 100 films of all time.
When our own Chris Chiarella reviewed the Blu-ray Disc, he praised the restored high definition 2.35:1 picture as well as the remixed Dolby TrueHD 5.1 channel surround sound. "The track displays an enjoyable, enveloping spread around the home theater," said Chiarella. And for those purists who prefer the original mono soundtrack, that's here too, also in lossless Dolby TrueHD.

Prize Details
One winner will take home Chinatown on Blu-ray disc, autographed by screenwriter Robert Towne and dated March 20, 2012. The film is presented on Blu-ray in 1080p resolution with Dolby TrueHD 5.1 channel surround sound. The sweepstakes will be open on Big Picture Big Sound's Facebook page until Friday, April 13, 2012.
Contest Rules and Eligibility
Sweepstakes is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada with Facebook accounts, 18 years old and over. Employees and regular contributors to Big Picture Big Sound and their immediate families are ineligible for this contest. No purchase is necessary. Contest ends April 13, 2012, with random drawing to occur on or around April 14, 2012. Valid first name, last name and e-mail address are required so that we can contact the winner and verify eligibility. One entry per person. Invalid e-mail address or name voids entry. Proof of identity may be required of winner. Winner will have 48 hours after being contacted to verify identity/eligibility and claim prize, otherwise an alternate winner may be drawn.
