Emotiva Unveils New Amps, Speakers and a Free HDMI Upgrade for their Preamp/Processor

By Rachel Cericola

Emotiva is ending the week on a high note -- or at least, a loud note. The company just announced plans to start shipping three new product lines, as well as update one of its existing products.

The company is now shipping the entry-level BasX series, which includes multizone amplifiers, integrated amplifiers, and stereo preamp/tuners. Emotiva is also expanding the Airmotiv loudspeaker line and giving the XPA Gen3 series a reference-level audio amplifier. All three product options were first announced back in January 2016.

BasX multizone amps, stereo preamp/tuners, and integrated amplifiers are all designed to work together. The lineup includes four power amplifiers, but with different output levels and configurations from two to eight channels.

Emotiva is also adding seven new models of Airmotiv loudspeakers. Designed for high-end audio systems, each one has black faceted baffles, MDF cabinets, and magnetically attached grilles. The new Airmotiv speakers are shipping now, with subwoofers coming in December.

The last in the new lineup is the XPA Gen3, a custom-tailored amplifier that works with 2-channel and full-blown home theater systems -- and everything in between. With the ability to accommodate 1 to 7 channels, the XPA Gen3 has Emotiva's XPR amplifier topology, multiple power levels, and more. And because it's modular, it will grow with your system as needed. In fact, all of the XPA Gen3 amplifiers share the same chassis and power supply, so it can be upgraded to up to seven channels whenever you're ready.

If you're not looking for new equipment right now, Emotiva is offering an upgrade for XMC-1 users. The preamp/processor can now be upgraded to HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. All new XMC-1 units come with one HDMI 2.0 input and one HDMI 2.0 output, as well as full HDCP 2.2 support. However, existing users can upgrade it for free if the XMC-1 was purchased new before the board was available. If you bought it used or at a discount, expect to pay $299 for the new features.

"Beginning in January, we initiated a series of product debuts that add up to a record-breaking round of new models in 2016, most of which are now here and ready to ship to our customers," said Dan Laufman, president and founder of Emotiva Audio Corporation. "With three of four new lines now ready to ship, and the fourth [Emersa] on its way in early Q1 '17, we're fulfilling our commitment to satisfy the needs of audio lovers at every level -- from casual listeners to the most ardent audiophiles. And, we're doing so at unbelievably affordable prices that are typical of the Emotiva brand."

Emotiva has priced the BasX series between $199 and $599. The Airmotiv models are listed between $199 and $699. Also look for the XPA Gen3 now, which has a starting price of $899.
