Just in time for Black Friday TV madness (actually a bit early), Panasonic has announced a new value-oriented line of 4K Ultra HD TVs with built in Smart TV functions. Instead of a lost leader no-name TV brand, you can pick up a Panasonic Smart 4K TV for a super low price. How low? According today's press release from Panasonic, the 50-inch model is $799.99, the 55-inch model is $999.99 and the 65-inch model is $1499.99.

But we checked the Panasonic web site (on Wednesday, November 25) and the 55-inch one is even lower, a cool $899.99 with free shipping. The 50-inch model is $749.99, also with free shipping. The 65-inch models are listed at a low $1399.99 (click the links below for current pricing).

The CX400 black bezel models are available in three screen sizes:

The CX420 matte silver bezel modes feature two screen sizes:

Panasonic's CX Series 4K Ultra HD is available with a black matte or silver matte ultra slim bezel.

The CX Series of 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs are available now at panasonic.com with additional retailers coming soon. The CX series features five models in screen sizes ranging from 50-inch to 65-inch with two bezel color options - black (CX400) and matte silver (CX420). All CX Series models feature built-in Smart TV apps and WiFi connectivity in order to access streaming movie services such as Netflix and YouTube, music services like Pandora and many other online content and apps.

"Panasonic has a rich history and expertise in delivering category-leading HD and 4K Ultra HD TVs to consumers," said Julie Bauer, President, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. "We have brought that same technological know-how to our first line of value-priced 4K Ultra HD TVs opening the 4K experience up to an even wider range of consumers who want Panasonic picture quality that fits their budget."

Panasonic's CX Series Ultra HD TVs deliver four times the resolution of 1080p Full HD with a wider color gamut and and more subtle gradations of gray, compared to standard HD TVs. The TVs use full array direct LED backlighting for a more uniform picture and deeper, richer black levels than edge-lit models. And Panasonic says the CX Series's default picture modes are "pre-optimized" reducing the need to pay extra for a detailed picture calibration.

The CX Series offers a 120Hz refresh rate for and smoother, more fluid image clarity and reduced blur. On the 50-inch model, this is an "effective" 120 Hz rate using backlight blinking. On the 55-inch and 65-inch models, the 120 Hz rate is native, for beter motion performance. All models feature a slim bezel to maximize total viewing area.
