Denon Packages Wireless Soundbar and Subwoofer into HEOS HomeCinema

By Rachel Cericola

Those super-slim TVs look incredibly cool, but most of them sound downright awful. It's just the nature of the TV -- or at least the nature of the TV business.

This is why the soundbar category has become so big; this slim speaker option is probably one of the easiest ways to boost TV sound. Now, Denon Electronics wants to make that option even easier, by introducing the HEOS HomeCinema. This new audio package includes a wireless soundbar and subwoofer, so you can add better sound to your movies, sports, TV shows and even music, all without having to install complicated equipment and a web of messy wires.

Denon has packed the wireless soundbar with two 2-by-5-inch precision drivers for upper bass and midrange audio. It also has two 20mm dome tweeters for treble, boasting a response extending to 20kHz.

Other features include Denon's Virtual Surround processing, an HDMI input and output (with TV audio return channel), a USB input, optical and coaxial digital audio inputs, and Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS decoders. The HEOS HomeCinema also supports Denon's HEOS app, but the system does have a TV remote learning function if you'd prefer to use your existing controller.

Denon has matched the soundbar with the HEOS HomeCinema subwoofer, which includes two 5.25-inch woofers. This piece can also be controlled through the HEOS app, so you can tweak bass levels. This sub also promises a flexible install, since you can place it horizontally or vertically.

The HEOS HomeCinema is the latest piece in Denon's HEOS wireless multiroom ecosystem, which means it will also work with any of the products currently in that lineup. Each HEOS product features WiFi support, allowing you to put music into any or every room in the house. Currently, the HEOS lineup includes the HEOS 1 ($199) and HEOS 1 Go Pack ($99), the HEOS 3 ($299), the HEOS 5 ($399), and the HEOS 7 ($599) wireless music players, as well as the HEOS Extend WiFi range extender ($99), the HEOS LINK ($349), the HEOS AMP ($499) and the HEOS Drive ($2,499).

Denon will start shipping the HEOS HomeCinema sometime in July, with an MSRP of $799.
