CES: DISH Network Introduces TV Everywhere Lineup

By Rachel Cericola

Four new Slingbox products were announced today. Before you break out your credit card, know that Dish Network is hoarding them for its growing legion of satellite subscribers.

The new line will be launched under the TV Everywhere umbrella, which is basically what Sling users live for -- TV anytime, anywhere. Well, it will be anywhere you have a laptop or mobile device that is somehow tied into one of the new TV Everywhere products.

The first in the new lineup is the TV Everywhere Adapter, better know as the world's smallest Slingbox. It's also the device that everyone was waiting for, since it partners Slingbox technology with existing DISH Network HD DVR receivers. It's compact and convenient, with a single USB cable as its only connection.

Those looking to replace the entire box can opt for the ViP 922, which has Slingbox technology built right into the DVR box.

No additional connections are needed, and the box includes a 1TB hard drive for up to 1,000 hours of recording time.

Next up is the DISH Network WiFi HD Monitor. This portable, lightweight device is the only free-standing monitor that can transmit high-def signals from a set-top box to anywhere in the home -- all via Wi-Fi. Offering a 16x9 widescreen format, the monitor boasts 720p HD quality and controls for any connected DISH Network HD DVR receiver. It also plays nicely with the aforementioned ViP 922 and TV Everywhere Adapter.

Last, but really only relevant to iPhone/iPod touch users, is the DISH Remote Access App. Compatible with most SD and HD DISH DVR receivers, the app does just what you think it would, allowing TV control from any iPhone or iPod touch from anywhere. One thing we wouldn't expect: The app is actually free!

The DISH Remote Access App is available now at the App Store. The TV Everywhere Adapter, the ViP 922 and the WiFi Monitor won't be coming until the second quarter of 2010.
