Cyber Monday Tablet Deals: $50 Off Kindle Fire HD ($119) and HDX ($179)

By Chris Boylan

Well if those those brick and mortar stores can start Black Friday sales on Thursday, then it's only fair that Amazon should start its Cyber Monday sale on Sunday evening. And that's what they've done this year with their Gold Box one-day deal on the Kindle Fire HD 7-inch.  It's live right now as Amazon's early Cyber Monday tablet deal: save $50 on the current generation Kindle Fire HD 16 GB version.  Here's the link:

UPDATE: Amazon seems to have pulled this offer early on Monday evening (the Kindle Fire HD is back up to $169), but you can still get $50 the upgraded Kindle Fire HDX here:

If you're looking for Cyber Monday tablet deals, this is a good one.  With built-in Amazon Prime video streaming (requires Amazon Prime membership) as well as the Amazon Cloud player, the Kindle Fire HD is an excellent choice for a media tablet. Amazon's App Store for Android offers thousands of games and productivity apps as well, so you'll always be able to work and play on your tablet.

The lowest cost version comes with built-in ads on start-up, but if you want to get rid of those, you can pony up an additional $15 (total cost $134).  Just select the "Without Special Offers" option on the main Kindle Fire HD page.

The Kindle Fire HD features a 1.5 GHz dual core processor with 16 GD of on-board storage.  The screen offers excellent detail (216 pixels per inch) with a native widescreen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

If you're worried about the kids spending too much time on the device, you can create custom profiles and set time limits on use with the Kindle FreeTime feature. You can even limit the daily use of certain categories -- like games and video -- while leaving unlimited time for reading.  Try that on an an iPad!

Amazon's Kindle Fire HD and HDX are available now until midnight Cyber Monday for $50 off.

The Kindle Fire HD features ultra-fast web browsing over built-in Wi-Fi, plus updated e-mail and calendar support for Gmail, Outlook, and other popular e-mail apps and services. This deal is limited to stock on hand and may be discontinued without notice so we'd suggest buying one now if you're in the market for it.

If you're looking for an even higher performance version of the Kindle Fire, you can also pick up the Kindle Fire HDX for $50 off (starting at $179).  This one features full HD resolution and a quad core CPU for better performance on virtually everything you may want to do on the tablet. This is also a one-day Cyber Monday tablet deal that started early (Sunday evening). Here are links to both versions:
