Although Amazon's description mentions an LED-based light source, the SV470M is actually a traditional LCD TV with CCFL lighting, but it does still muster up a 50,000:1 manufacturer rated contrast ratio. An integrated ambient light sensor automatically adjusts brightness for an optimized picture, regardless of room conditions.
In the sound department, the SV470M features SRS TruSurround HD, for the illusion of surround sound without extra speakers as well as SRS TruVolume which minimizes the jarring volume difference between channels, and between TV programs and commercials. SRS TruVolume also reduces the dynamic range of movies, so you won't be frantically reaching for the remote when the explosions kick in, just after a few whispered lines of dialog (somes in handy when you're watching movies or TV late at night).
The SV470M features four HDMI inputs (v. 1.3), two component inputs with audio, composite video, S-video and even a VGA (PG) input for easy connection of a laptop, Mac or PC. An integrated NTSC/QAM tuner enables you to tune in local DTS and HDTV channels without the need for a cable box.
