CINEPRO Unveils Reference Home Theater Soundbar Optimized for 103-inch Plasma TV

By Rachel Cericola

The concept of a soundbar is quite simple. It's a slim solution that boasts full surround sound from a speaker that tucks nicely under your HDTV. Soundbars come in a variety of shapes and sizes. But what if your HDTV is a 103-incher?

You'd probably want to give CINEPRO a call. The company's CINEPRO Bar speakers work with any LED, LCD or plasma install -- and we do mean any.

The customer pictured below just happened to have a 103-inch plasma. After dropping thousands of dollars on this massive flat screen, you probably want more than what the built-in speakers can offer, right? Sometimes those built-in speakers can be downright anemic, with no oomph. That said, the homeowner didn't want to fill the room with speaker cabinets; the screen was to be the main focus here.

There was no need to sacrifice sound or floorspace. Instead, CINEPRO created one single Bar unit to accompany the HDTV and provide sound for the entire theater.

CINEPRO made a soundbar specifically to accompany this 103-inch screen.

CINEPRO first announced its custom line of LCR soundbars last year. We've seen and heard them at shows, and now they're showing off the latest (and largest) edition in the line. "Our customers want the best sound, but they don't always want the sound system to draw attention to itself visually," says Gus Cossifos, VP and co-founder. "It's a reverse of that old adage... Good speakers are best heard but not seen. And our custom line of LCR sound bars was created to do just that."

The company's original models came in sizes ranging from 48 to 60 inches. At 96 inches, this is definitely an upgrade. Still, at 5 inches high and 11 inches deep, it doesn't take away from the room's focal point. Inside, the unit has eight 4-inch cast frame woofers, three 1-inch Neodym silk dome tweeters, and a 10-inch subwoofer. It can handle a maximum of 300 watts, and boasts a frequency response of 38Hz-20kHz (+/-3db), an impedance of 4 Ohms nominal, and a sensitivity rating of 91db.

The company makes LCR, LR and center channel stand-alone speakers in all sizes.

CINEPRO's custom Bar speakers feature LCR, LR and center channels in one custom-sized soundbar. While audiophiles may scoff at the soundbar category, CINEPRO promises big performance (in all sizes!), all the way down to 25Hz.

Aside from the wow factor of custom width, the company also offers a variety of models, as well as custom colors. Depending on the model, CINEPRO Bar speakers start around $825 each.
