CES: Wadia's 171iTransport Adds iPhone Support, Improved Performance

By Dennis Burger

Building on the success of its iPod-only 170iTransport, Wadia Digital introduced a new "Works with iPhone"-certified dock at this year's Consumer Electronics Show. Dubbed the 171iTransport, this new model (which supplements, not replaces, the original model in the line) is the first certified iPhone dock to offer pure digital output from Apple's smartphone and the iPod Touch.

It also charges all iPods and iPhones when docked, and its component video connections deliver high-resolution video from docked devices. In addition, the 171 exceeds the performance of the original with an improved power supply, higher-quality audiophile grade outputs, and a power supply indicator.

Look for the 171iTransport to ship within Q1, for an as of yet determined price (but since the 170iTransport will continue to be offered, you can probably expect the new kid on the block to be a little more than the original's $379 sticker).
