CES: LG Unveils LHB975 and New Network Blu-ray Home Theater Systems

By Greg Robinson

For consumers looking for a simpler yet elegant home theater solution, LG has introduced a trio of new "Network Home Theater Systems," all featuring Blu-ray Disc support. The new model offerings include the LHB335, the LHB535 and the flagship system, the LHB975.

The LHB975 is a 5.1 channel complete home theater system delivering 1100 watts of power. Driving the system is a combination Blu-ray Disc player/digital amplifier with both Ethernet and Wi-Fi capabilities.

In addition to the standard features now common on Profile 2.0 Blu-ray Disc players, the LHB975 incorporates LG's NetCast suite of internet service offerings. This means you'll have access to Netflix streaming, VUDU, CinemaNow, Pandora, YouTube, Picasa photo sharing and AccuWeather. And because no audio/video product is complete without one these days, the LHB975 also features an integrated iPod dock.

Sure to please consumers leery of running wires all over their living room, the LHB975's rear channel speakers as well as the powered subwoofer receive their signals wirelessly from a 3-channel wireless transmitter located at the front of the room.

The center and rears have clearly been designed for shelf placement, but the taller front left and right channels kick things up a notch, as they can be set up on stands or wall-mounted using the included wall mount hardware. All of the speakers provided with the LHB975 incorporate LG's silk dome tweeter technology.

Pricing and availability on these three network Blu-ray home theater systems has not yet been announced.
