CE Week Returns to New York City June 24-28 Featuring Ultra HD TV, 2nd Screen and More

By Rachel Cericola

Where the heck did the year go? It seems like we were just saying "Happy New Year" to everyone we came in contact with at CES. Now, CE Week is upon us -- or it will be. The mid-year event is scheduled for June 24-28, 2013, in New York City.

Companies, tech innovators and lurkers will be at the trade-only event to take in all of the conferences, exhibitions, workshops and networking events. However, it's looking like CE Week 2013 is on track to become the biggest CE Week to date, recently announcing several new events and conferences to its roster.

Attendees can expect a big turnout at Engadget+gdgt Live, which kicks off the festivities at the Altman Building on June 24. In its third year, the event brings technology brands and gadget enthusiasts together from all around the country.

The next night is the Women in CE Forum. The second annual career enhancement forum, known as "Empower Your Entrepreneurial Spirit," comes back to the Rubin Museum of Art for one night, on June 25. Expect the event to include keynotes from Kay Koplovitz, founder of USA Networks, and Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC's Morning Joe and author of Know Your Value.

Look for iLounge NYC to run over three days, starting with a VIP event on June 25. After that, there will be a full two days of Apple-based excitement. The event will cover the accessory industry and showcase some of the best iPad, iPhone and iPod products to come.

For those in need of an energy boost, June 25's Connected Car Conference should get you pretty revved up. The half-day program known as C3 will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion with car technology expert and journalist Doug Newcomb showing off some of the best and coolest consumer electronics to ever hit the road.

That same day is where things get really interesting -- at least for Big Picture Big Sound readers. June 25 is the Ultra HD Conference, a half-day event that will pack in technologists, marketers, broadcasters and home entertainment executives. All will be on hand to talk up the Ultra HD market, where it's going, and how it's going to get there.

Festivities will start early on June 26, with the Showstoppers event, followed by FashionWare NYC and the Digital Health Summit. The latter will show off some interesting items in the medical field, including apps, remote monitoring, cloud-based medical services, and more.

If you're more into mobile devices than medical ones, you won't want to miss the Mobile Apps Showdown on June 26. Produced by Robin Raskin and Living in Digital Times, the NYC competition will show off some of the best and brightest in mobile app technology. Then, the top 10 will be put to the test in front of a live studio audience to see which app will claim bragging rights as the very best.

On June 27, the Techlicious Summit will be all about women and technology. Specifically, Techlicious Founder Suzanne Kantra will be on-hand to talk about how women make tech prurchases, the type of messaging that resonates with women, how to reach women through social channels, and what women want tech-wise for the upcoming holiday season.

Last, but certainly not least, will be the 2nd Screen Summit NYC (S3). This half-day event invites CE, Broadcast, Advertising and Content Holder executives and their service provider partners to indulge in information, market statistics, education and thought leadership around the emerging 2nd Screen ecosystem. Held on June 27 at Clearview Cinemas Chelsea, the event is produced by 2nd Screen Society in conjunction with Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News magazines.

If you're in the trade and planning to be in the New York area during CE Week 2013, registration for the event kicks off on April 15, 2013.
